Restrictive Permit

All candidates eligible for a registration to practise medicine must have completed:

Training: A period of postgraduate training in a manner satisfactory to the faculty of medicine and the Collège des médecins du Québec. (i.e., an IMG with two years of training in family medicine in the USA, would likely receive an equivalence for this training).

Exams: Successfully passed all three components of the examination in family medicine (MCC, CFPC, CMQ) or specialty
(CMQ, RCPSC) as well as the Legal, Ethical and Organizational Aspects of Medical Practice in Québec (ALDO-Québec) examination.

Language: Have a working knowledge of the French language.

Restricive Permit >>
When a candidate does not meet the conditions stated in Section 33 of the Medical Act for obtaining a registration to practice medicine, the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) may issue a restrictive permit.
