Mission
AIMGA is committed to the responsible, informed and equitable integration of
international graduate physicians into the Canadian health care system. The association
aims for the recognition of skills and experience gained outside Canada, without
compromising current Canadian medical ideals and standards.
Vision
Our vision and goal is to integrate IMGs into the Alberta health care system, with
the aid of services we provide (see below). This way we are working towards the benefit of
the growing population of Alberta without compromising Canadian health care standards.
Services
- Access and information on the licensure
- Exam preparation support
- Data Base
- Career advice
AIMGA holds review sessions for the following exams (MCCEE,
MCCQE Part I and Part II). The Association organizes study groups, offers examples
of old exams, and provides the space for the groups to meet.
In addition, AIMGA arranges for the participation of IMGs
in the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine's LMCC Preparation Review
courses that are offered to the Canadian graduating class.
AIMGA also organizes CPR courses, interview sessions and
other workshops as deemed essential by its members for its members.
On the business side of things, AIMGA works hard with the
major stakeholders in Alberta and Canada to develop the best possible assessment,
orientation and upgrading tools/programs for successful integration of IMGs in the Alberta
health care work force.
Initiatives Being Developed
