ALLOPATHIC MEDICINE: The dictionary definition of allopathy is: "A method of treating disease with remedies that produce effects different from those caused by the disease itself" (Source: American Heritage Dictionary). Allopathic medicine is the mainstream "Western" school of medicine whose therapeutic approaches are typically related to surgery, radiation, and synthetic drug therapies. Allopathic medicine is characterized by specialization according to diagnoses or anatomy. All licensed M.D.s have a basic education in allopathic medicine.
